The time it takes to groom a dog depends on various factors, such as temperament of the dog, the condition of the coat, size of the dog and the style that is required. When you drop your dog off we will be able to give you an indication of the time it will take. Typically this is between 1 and a half to two hours if the coat is in good condition.

If your dog does not like to keep still on the grooming table we have harness’s available which can help with this. Sometimes if the dog is very skittish and figitey it is not possible to complete the groom as the movement from the dog could cause an accident. In this case we would discuss different options with you so we could complete the groom at a different time.

If your dog is nervous around other dogs it is possible for you to make an appointment when there will be no other dogs in the salon. We have a no cage policy in the salon so if you think your dog could be aggressive with other dogs please inform us when making an appointment.

If your dog’s coat is matted we will discuss the various options with you once we see the condition of the coat. Grooming matted coats is time consuming and adds wear and tear to our equipment, therefore the cost of demoting a dogs coat is variable on an case by case basis. We always have the best interests of your dog in mind and we will only dematt a dog in a humane way which would not cause unnecessary suffering to your pet. It is possible to groom your elderly dog. We will require further information from the owner, for example if the dog has joint problems etc, and we will then taylor the groom accordingly. We have harness’s which can support your elderly dog when they are getting groomed and we can ensure your dog has frequent breaks and time to rest when being groomed.

It is possible to stay with your dog whilst they are groomed. However, we usually find the dog is more distracted and stressed if they can see their owner. If you think your dog would benefit from you staying with them when they are groomed just let us know and we can discuss it with you.
